Not eating well

My wife and i are concerned about our 13 month old son. There are times when he will eat a hearty breakfast or a good lunch and diner, but the greater percentage of the times he will not eat a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our son's doctor says that he is in the 25% weight for his height and weight. He loves to drink whole milk. We give him breakfast with 8oz of milk and then for lunch he would get some food with juice, same for dinner and at night around 8:00 pm we would give him his last bottle of milk. What can we do to help him eat better?

Thank you

From the measurements you wrote down, his weight is just above the 25th percentile and his height is on the 75th percentile for his age. He is growing normal from his weight and height. Suggest giving him milk in a cup (sippy cup) instead of a bottle at meals. Give the milk to him towards the end of the meal so he eats more of the food instead of the milk. Milk should be given at all meals instead of juice, especially if he is not eating the meals that well. If you want him to have juice (100% juice), then give it (in a cup) with a healthy snack in the afternoon. The bottle at night is fine if he will not give that up or give him an evening snack with milk just before bed. Hope that helps you.

Similar situation. my 17month old daughter has become extremely choosy about what foods she eats - she has never ever been choosy and eats pretty much everything. we did take her to the hospital 2 nights ago for a high fever and were told that this is a result of teething(and possibly some minor viral infection as she had a slight runny nose). But now she wont eat as much, drinks well but retches when you try to feed her. Her gums are definitely inflamed and she has something in her mouth a lot After getting rid of her fever she is doing everything is else she normally does except eating.any suggestions?
