Premi 15 months after shunt surgeries

My grandson had surgery for a shunt revision for hydrocephalus. He had been eating normally before the surgeries, Since then he has not drank from his bottle much.  He will still eat some jar food, but seems to play around with his bottle where before he would finish it quickly. Off and on he will drink a little from the bottle, but will stop after a few seconds(30) for no apparent reason.

The hospital where he currently admitted, has done a series of tests to check his digetsive system, but all the tests have come back negative as the problem. He is being fed thru a tube in his intestines to get his nurishmnet.

Considering all I have just mentioned, what are some of the obvious reasons he is not wanting to eat from the bottle ?

Quite often when a child is on tube feeds during the day they are not 'hungry' to eat (the feeding formula fills them up) so they do not eat at meals. Suggest having the tube feed at night and try baby food/bottle during the day. Maybe he will start to eat some food and bottle because he will not feel full from the tube feeds. If he does not eat much during the day, a least he is getting what he needs at night with the tube feed. During the day set up feeding 3 meals of baby food with the bottles so he starts to become hungry between meals and hopefully will not resist the bottle and food. Hoped that helped you.
