Table food

Table food

I am raising my grandson who is 14 months old.  I must deal with his other grandparents who are manipulating, game playing people.  My grandson is not completely on table food.  He is eating some table food (seems to especially love fruits) and jarred baby food (Stage 3).  I have tried giving him chicken nuggets which he eats @ daycare, steamed carrots, steamed squash, Gerber graduates, cheese, scrambled egg, mashed potatoes and he doesn't seem very interested in any of it.  He usually spits most of it out.  He has started eating some of a banana, strawberries & loves cherries.  When he see me eating these things he wants them.  I am dilligently trying daily to get him to eat these things.  His peditrician says it does not hurt for him to be on baby food a little longer if he wants to, that I am doing a great job & that when he is ready he will make the transition completely.  At least he is eating some table food.

His other grandparents (now they have put doubts in CPS's mind) are convinced there must be something wrong with him and how I must take him to some specialist.  Is there anything wrong with lettingt him develop at his own pace or is there something wrong with him?

His weight is just under the 75th percentile and his height is just above the 50th percentile for his age which indicates he is normal and doing very well. He is eating regular table food and baby food such as chicken nuggets and fruit so he seems to be able to chew and shallow food fine. Suggest letting him eat finger foods, on his own, using his hands, which may quickly increase his interest with regular food. Then you can stop the baby food altogether, and he can feed himself independently. Hoped that helped you.
