feeding

hello, i hve 28days old nephew, earlyer we though that he is not getting enough that by breast feeding as he was weak(he has physiological jundice, now he is ok). today we came to know that his mom is not able to produce milk.

plz help.

His weight is just under the 5th percentile and his height is on the 25th percentile for his age. Since his mother is not producing enough breast milk or none at all, then it can be supplemented with infant formula via bottles. She should pump her breast milk (if she has some) so she is aware of the amounts he is getting. For his age it is recommended 2-4oz of breast milk or infant formula 8-12 feedings a day.
