formula switch?

my daughter is a week old today and yesterday at her check up they switched her formula from enfamil newborn to enfamil prosobee because she had been spitting up after every feeding. She weighed 7.6 at birth, 7.4 when we left the hospital and 7 lb at her appt yesterday. I started the new formula at her next feeding and she has actually been spitting up more. Should i switch back? She was keeping more down on the regular milk based formula than lactose free, soy based formula.

It may not be the formula and instead may be acid reflex. Has your doctor mentioned that? Here are a few suggestions to help with acid reflux. The feeding position is important and should be almost a sitting up position when feeding her. Never lay her down on her back right after eating or 1 – ½ hour after feeding because the acid from the stomach goes into the esophagus and causes pain. Raise the head of her crib to a 45-degree angle too so she are not flat on her back. Feeding her 5-6 times day can help. Feeding that way keeps the stomach acid constant which helps the reflux, she grows, and weight increases at a steady pace. Suggest you speak with your MD and get her checked to see if she really has Acid Reflux or not. Hoped this helped.

I am the mother of a 5month old and a holistic nutrition coach. We were very successful in stopping our daughters acid refluz and spitting up of breast milk by pretreating her bottles with digestive enzymes. Babies have very imature digestive systems so many times they have trouble breaking down milk or especially formula since it is processed. adding a very small amount of digestive enzymes about 20-60 min before feeding can break down the milk proteins and sugars so your baby can digest it much better and assist her in getting more nutrients from the food
