healthy weight range in children

Hi I have a 6 1/2 year old girl. She is 48 inches tall. She weighs 67 pounds. I was wandering if she is in the right range for her age and height? Also, Is there somewhere I can go to view a chart that is reputable? Thanks

She is in the upper levels of her height and slightly above weight for her age. If you are worried about her weight, it is recommended to increase children's physical activities to loss weight, and not lower calorie intake due to the need of calories for growth. Have your child go and play outdoors, run, walk, and dance. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain. I suggest you do limit high sugar drinks/snacks and replace with milk/yogurt or fresh fruit/popcorn. High sugar drinks and snacks do not give the child nutrients they need. You can get Growth Charts from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention website: www.cdc.gov
When the website opens, type in 'growth charts' and then pick from the NCHS 2000 growth chart list the age group you want to see. Thank you for your question.
