hemoglobin barts

I received a letter saying my child has hemoglobin barts as well as a another variant hemoglobin in his blood they detected this during his newborn screening what does this all mean????????

The important part about hemoglobin is the levels on the tests your child had. That determines if they are within normal levels or not. If you are worried, I suggest you ask your MD for an iron profile blood work to rule out anemia, and ask for an explanation of tests your child had. Thank you for your question.
