CHILD NUTRITION EXPERT FORUM
off the charts

off the charts

My son is 7 and has always been an excellent eater.  He will eat anything, and as he says, "loves food".  Since he was 2 his weight has been in the 5th %.  At his 7 year old check up, we were informed he is off the chart.  My Dr. who is not an alarmist at all, wants him to be 2 lbs heaver.  We ran some blood work and everything seems fine, including beigh neg for celiac.  I am worried about him.  He has a mild peanut/treenut allergy, and seasonl allergies/asthma.  He is currently  not taking any medication.   Otherwise he is a bright, active boy.  How can I get him to put on some pounds and is there other testing I shoul consider, ie bone measure ?
Thanks!!

From most recent CDC charts, I charted your son's measurements you stated and his weight is between 10-5 percentile and his height is on the 50the percentile for his age. Suggest giving him Pedisure or making milkshakes (ice cream, frozen fruit, fresh fruit, and milk blended together). This will give him extra calories and protein for weight gain. Hope this helped.
