His weight is on the 5th percentile and his height is just under the 75th percentile for his age. He is at the beginning of puberty and will start growing in height plus will gain muscle (muscle weights more than fat) as he get older. He is tall for his weight and appears thinner. Suggest eating 3 meals a day, with snacks between meals. Suggest drinking either nutrient dense drinks (in addition to eating his meals) such as Carnation Instant breakfast or make own milkshakes - soy yogurt, soy milk, and frozen fruit blended together; or milk, ice cream, and frozen fruit blended together for extra calories, protein and nutrients to help increase his weight. Another suggestion is have him drink Carnation Instant breakfast before he goes to school with his breakfast, and have a milkshake (milk, ice cream, and banana or any fruit blended together) after his gets home to make-up the calories and protein he is not eating in school plus get additional calories.
