Bowel movements in a 2 1/2 year old.

by mommy_of_3_vt, Sep 08, 2009 09:15PM
My 2 1/2 year old step-son has never really had a formed bowel movement, they are always very mushy and more like an infants.. Is this normal? He eats all solid foods and has a large variety. he doesn't have an abundance of fruit or fruit juices or anything so I am wondering why this could be happening.

Hi mommy, I also have a 2 1/2 y/o son who has had the same issues as your son. I raised the issue of him having diarrhea and loose stools to his pediatrician. And she stated that it may be caused by constipation or fecal impaction, which can cause diarrhea or loose stools, as only the watery feces pass through the blockage.
