Canada's Health Care System (Medicare)

by Fergie420, Apr 22, 2009 06:47AM
Just a clarification: jdtm, on October 1st, 2008, mentioned to Dr. Rebecca Resnick that in Canada we have Universal Health Care and all you need is a referral to access a mental health specialist.  This is true except for certain professions, such as Psychologists, who opted out of the plan at its inception and are paid directly by their patients.  Currently, fees are $160 per hour in Ontario.  http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hcs-sss/medi-assur/index-eng.php

This discussion is related to What if I can't afford a psychotherapist, psychologist etc?.
