Cortical Visual Impairment

Cortical Visual Impairment

My son ashtyn was born at 31 weeks gestation by c-section due to the cord being around his neck 6 times. He is about 2 months behind and works with a special education teacher twice a week. at 4 1/2 months, he is not tracking and appears to look straight through people. He always has his head turned to the right, and when on his belly, he will lift his head to the right and try looking over his right shoulder to see me when he could simply turn his head to the left. I took him to a pediatric opthamologist and he told me that my son's eyes are fine, and the problem appears to lie in the processing of the visual message. He is suggesting an MRI and that we take him to a neurologist. The eye doctor said that his eyes sit far apart and he has a large head, (90th percentile), all signs of a neurological disorder. He suggested Cortical Visual Impairment. My son also drools a lot and started rolling over at a month old. So cerebral palsy is also a possibility. Does this sound like CVI? Or is people jumping the gun and not giving him time to catch up since he was 2 months early?? Please help!
