Delayed speech and motor skills

Delayed speech and motor skills

I'm a 37 year old mum of 2 beautiful girls. The elder one is kashish who is 3 years 9 months and has been diagoned as hypotonic. She was born in New Delhi, India. My husband and I did not notice any thing wrong with my daughter when she was born since she cried at birth... [More] and smiled and cried and turned around and rolled over at 3 months. It wasnt till I came to Kuwait to visit my sick mother that my elder sister noticed that my 6 month old daughter's milestones were not up to the mark and thats when I took her to the neurologist. He put her onto all the tests as soon as possible and started her onto physical therapy also. All her tests came back normal. CBK - NORMAL, AMINO ACID BLOOD AND URINE- NORMAL, LACTATE- NORMAL, MRI- NORMAL, EEG- NORMAL, VISION AND HEARING- NORMAL, EMG COAXIAL NEEDLE TEST- NORMAL. The doctors know that she is hypotonic but do not know what caused the hypotonia and when. They have left it as undiagnosed.

They point it out to be genetic though her test came back normal also. Her cognitive skills are fine. She understands everything when its told to her only once. Shes learnt to eat herself, drink herself, indicate to us when she has to go to the toilet. The only thing lacking is her speech. I have not got any answer till date as to why her speech is delayed. She started to say her sister's name, dada, helen. two, ten and three. I want to know if sigh language would be good for my daughter since that would be a good way for us to understand her more.

I want to know what I could do to help develope her speech since I have not been able to find one good speech therapist here.

R U in NEW Delhi still? How is your daughter in Motor imitation skills? I am a mother of a 3.5 year boy who is similar to your daughter. Here they are first working on his motor imitation skills(like she should clap when she sees you clapping..tap your head etc do twinkle twinkle litter star actions) doesn't matter if she did it when she was younger (my son was perfect till 2 years of his age) but we are trying to bring back on motor imitation skills now, which is essential for speech therapy. I visited Vashi near Nayee Mumbai at Sahaja yoga health research center. Which also helped very much.
