im 18 and a proud mommy of a blind child:)

My son was diagnosed at 3 minths with septoptic dysplasia. He is now going on 14 on the 9th of February. He can see shadows and light out of his left eye but his right he is completely blind. A lot of people judge me because i am pregnant again. Im 17 weeks today. My son also has a pituitary gland problem. It's a small gland located in the middle of the brain and it's small(size of a pea). It deals with the hormones in your body such as growth, sexual, and it affects sleeping, thirst and hunger. He is actually pretty big for having such a problem. He crawls but can't walk. Coordination issues due to being blind. It's a struggle dealing with mine and his appointments some are back to back from morning to 5 at night. But, im making it:) i am still with the father of my son. Been actually 2 years and 2 months since we have been together. :) now that were having a second child were a little nervous but i know i can do it. Any ideas on how to slowly tell/show my son that he is a big brother now.? Thanks for reading/listening to my life story.!

Kudos to you for  being such a loving and supportive mother.  He is a little young to understand he is going to be a big brother.  Waiting until a couple of weeks before the baby is due would be better.  Otherwise it will seem like forever before the baby is born. Then just tell him he is going to be a big brother.  Let him know by touch.  Have him touch your belly so he knows where his brother or sister is now.  After the baby is born help him gently explore the baby's face arms and legs. Reasure him that the baby is not replacing him, but instead is a gift for him to love.

That's a happy story as I hope all turns out well you have a good positive attitude,as .Dixie said you are a loving mom and I agree when you tell him about the baby let him feel baby kick so wait a while, does he have therapy to help him get some coordination ?
