our 21 month old just had an allergic reaction to eating sour cream and onion chips. we have been told by his ped that there is no way that he can have allergies and we would like to test him. he is also allergic to dog slober, and he has a "cold" all summer, spring and fall since he was 2 months old. both his father and i have severe seasonal allergies so we are pretty sure that he has them. how early  can you test for allergies and what do we have to do?

Well it sounds like he most definitely has allergies from everything you've said.  Why won't your ped test him or tell you if he can be tested this young?  If he won't, maybe you should go to another doctor for another recommendation.  Also I have a 9yr old and just recently (maybe a yr or so ago) we found out that he has allergic reactions to certain foods and breaks out when he eats things.  I go to this herb shop my mom has been going to for years and he said that anyone with allergies or allergic reactions should stay away from dairy, nuts, caffine, chocolate, chicken ( it has some ingrediate in it that pushes the lysin out of the body which is needed for good immune system).  He said that even those that dont break out should still stay away from these foods because they contain things that cause allergic reactions and weaken the immune system, also  things like dairy are packed with hormones.  Once I changed my son's diet he doesn't break out as much, used to be 4 or 5 times or more a year but now it's 1 or 2.  It really does make a difference. Try avoiding certain foods if you can to see if it makes a difference, esp keep the dog slober away, and also check with another ped to see if a test can be done and to see if certain foods can be avoided at such a young age.
