Excessive Vomiting

by Keira622, Sep 17, 2009 07:27PM
I have an 18 month old son who vomits at least once a day every day.  As a young baby he always spit up a lot.  At about 12 monts old he began vomiting on a more regular basis usually only once a day.  We've dealt with numerous ear infections also.  We've been to an allergy doctor who after testing determined he was allergic to eggs and peanuts.   We have since stopped all egg and peanut products; however, he is still vomiting.  He also has eczema which he's had since he was a newborn.  We are scheduled to see a gastro specialist.  Our pediatrican is not conerned at all because he is in the 53rd percentile for weight.  He weighs 26 lbs and his height is 32 inches.  Does anyone have any advise as to what might be causing this excessive vomiting??  I am having a hard time believing he's perfectly okay when this excessive vomiting has continued now for 6 months.

Maybe he's lactose intolerant? Or he could have other food allergies besides eggs and peanuts. It does sound like something is wrong though. Even a nervous, shy child doesn't throw up every day.

My son just turned 18 months and has the same allergies you were listing and also battles with ear infections.  He vomits approximately 2x per week.  I'll usually hear him cough lightly a few times and then the vomit comes.  Then he walks off playing like nothing happened.  He's 23 lbs and 33 in.  He seems to eat well and is not that picky. He was also 23 lbs at 12 months.  He is very active and seems to be very healthy.  The vomiting does worry me.  I've been told it's a hyperactive gag reflex.  He has an appointment Friday with our pedi. to discuss this vomiting.  How is your son since your post?  Find out anything new?
