My 10 yr old son allergic to new cat

We have just rehomed a 9 mth old male British Shorthair cat and my son is showing signs of allergic reaction. I have tried a treatment called Allergy Relief for Pets but does not seem to work as yet. I have also heard giving the cat aloe vera juice may help, Any suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks

look into the brand allerpet-c solution.  I have a pretty good reaction to cat dander (4+ on the skin test, whatever that means) and it works wonders for me.  As well I bathe my two cats once a week and brush (outside!!) at least once a day.

The way I found it works the best, good solid brushing with a slicker brush or fur buster (shedding blades, both available at pet stores); this gets rid of all the loose hair first.  This rinsing fully with plain water for a good 3 minutes, use shampoo here if you want.  After the cats have dried (since they will be licking and placing a good amount of dander back on their coats) I use the allerpet-c solution.  It is a liquid you basically wet down as much to the skin as possible and it helps to denature the dander protein that causes the problems.

This way works the best because extra hair is taken care of them, then all the build-up dander from the week is washed away and THEN the rest of the dander is partially denatured.  This brand has third party testing that proves it lowers the amount of dander present.

Also do some things for dust mites, wash bedding, blankets in hot water once a week if possible.  Wash all blankets, beds the cat sleeps on at least once a week.  Try to find a dyson vacuum that has a hepa filter built in (you will be amazed at what comes out of the carpet), vacuum at least once a week and try to have your son stay out of the areas for a couple of hours.  Hepa air filters should also help as well.

And the golden rule that I have trouble following, keep the cat out of his bedroom, wash hands and change clothes after touching the cat and try not to kiss and rub face in the cat (proven impossible for me lol).

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for that, I have switched to a solution called Petal Cleanse which seems to be better and we have gotten a Furminator comb which gets rid of a lot of hair. I use the comb and then apply the solution, my son is getting better with the cat, we do not allow the cat in the bedrooms and luckly we have wooden floors in the rooms downstairs and hallways so a lot easier to keep clean,

Thank you again for the suggestions I will look allerpet-c.
