anything over the counter for my 2 year old

anything over the counter for my 2 year old

My son has some allergies. He has been sneezing and his nose itchy in the day time but at night his nose is clogged up and has a hard time breathing. He is currently not taking anything. I have tried in the past Triaminic cold & allergy which helps but you have to give every 4 hours is there anything else and if so can it be used long term like a few months?

Children's Claritin is a good medicine. My son has severe allergies and has to take Flonase, Nasonex, Singular, plus Zyrtec all year.

Little noses makes an allergy blocker that you can apply to the outside of the nose.  I had to use allergy meds of my kids and it is not easy to get the down all the time!  Migth be easer to apply it to the nose.
Good luck!

The question is why is he sneezing and congested all the time?
my 5 mo has been stuffy since birth, so I am working on this. my 7 yr old didn't show allergies until 3-4 yrs old. I give benedryl. the pediatrician said using saline drops or mist anytime is fine (hold child still for application being the problem). also she said afrin is fine (3 day max to avoid rebound).

This is the first item the allergist told me- try bath, hair wash, clean night clothes and sheets(no fragrance detergent) every night for a few nights to remove allergens from him and bed. Then clean the floor, wash his lovely , wipe/dust off all furniture to remove them from the room.
he is getting almost old enough for airborne allergies, or a hidden food allergy.
Perhaps you want to ask if an allergist would do a skin test for allergies.

It sounds like allergies to me.  I would see an alternative nutritionist who deals with allergies.  It is typically soy (which is in everything), wheat (also in everything) and dairy that bother most people.  You could try to eliminate these things for a few weeks or longer.  Medicine only covers symptoms and does not make it go away for long if it is allergies!
