Broken bone?

by flygirl1958, Oct 18, 2008 02:33PM
I'm an avid runner. About a month ago, I was running and had to suddenly stop due to a pain right above my ankle.  The pain radiated to the calf and i thought perhaps i strained a muscle.  I stopped running for about 3 weeks and thought it felt better and thought i might try running on the treadmill. i was able to only run about 3 miles and it seemed tolerable.  However, the next day i could hardly walk.  I could barely sleep last night because it was a throbbing pain.  When i touch right above my ankle...maybe two inches above, i feel a sharp pain and i am touching a bone. I guess I thought if I had a broken bone I would not be able to walk.  Obviously, I wont be running tomorrow but is it serious enought to go to Doc?

I'd speak with a chiropractor who specializes in extremities and/or sports injuries. It's not good to ignore this problem, especially since you're an avid runner.

Warm wishes,
