Compression wedge fracture

I have a fused t-7 compression wedge fracture with 50% loss of vertebral height, all cervical discs have DDD, two cervcical disc bulges at 3mm, one thoracic disc bulge at 2mm, stenosis, and have developed a 60 degree kyphotic curve in my back. I am currently taking ultram 50mg several times a day with a muscle relaxer at night to help sleep. Iam still actively employed as first responder, but Iam fearful of further injury to my back. Does someone with my condition present a greater possibility of further damage to their spine?  Iam 47yoa and have drastically cut my physical activity down to almost nothing in fear of really being screwed up. Thanks for your time!!!

Thanks for your reply sir.  I wore a TLSO brace for some months. Its funny, but I actually was getting addicted to the brace. I felt uncomfortable taking it off after wearing it for a while. I had physical therapy for a couple of months, and to a chiropractor several times. My spine doctor thinks I should try injections next. The surgery that was described to me appears to be very difficult as the surgeon would have to go through the front of my chest cavity to get to the anterior wedge fracture which has already fused in place. Then straightening me up, installing some rods, and maybe some kyphoplasty. With the instability at the t-7 fracture my kyphosis is at 60 degrees and may get worse. I try to keep a good posture, but then that puts extra stress on the fracture site which then elevates my pain.  Iam elligible for an early out with my job which Iam seriously considering. I can still work, but it would have to be a non-physical job. Thanks again!!!
