Olivia,

Thanks for writing.

A specific form of chiropractic referred to as Upper Cervical Care has achieved a high percentage of results with Fibromyalgia. These doctors reason unique training and deal exclusively with the upper cervical spine. Studies have shown that patients with Fibromyalgia have a history of head or neck injury.

There are approximately 500 of this type of chiropractor in the US. A referral directory, as well as bountiful patient education, can be found at www.UpCspine.com. It's a terrific site.

You'll soon find that there are a handful of different Upper Cervical techniques, each of which have provided Fibromyalgia patients with desirable outcomes. While the techniques vary in how the adjustments are delivered, the clinical assessment and end goal are pretty much the same.

I use a golf swing analogy to describe the differences: Pick any 5 professional golfers and watch how they hold a club, address the ball, and swing.  You'll find 5 slightly different methods... but ultimately all 5 players are trying to do the same thing, which is get the ball in the hole with as few strokes as possible.

I wish you the best of luck, and hope that this answer helps you.

Warm wishes,
ART
