Fractured T12, L3 & L4

My 17 year old son fractured the above stated vertebrates 11 days ago.  They are stable fractures and the cause is from falling off a 15 foot fence onto concrete.  They did not put him in a back brace as it is very hot and humid here and stated that it would make him even more uncomfortable.  I put him on complete bedrest for 7 days and now starting to let him up and about with no bending, hyperflexing or lifting.  My question is, the physicians state that he'll heal up nicely in 6 weeks but he wants to go back to playing football in mid September.  Will this be even in his future?  He's in great physical health and eats extremely healthy and very regimented in his eating and physical activity.  He is now only taking plain Tylenol and Aleve for his pain.

Anything is possible. But right now I would focus more on healing properly than anything else. Many athletes jeopardize their long-term playing future by returning to sports too early.

Definitely wait until you get the "green light" from your son's orthopedist before getting back in the game.
