I have been diagnosed with spondylilothesis, and have no medical coverage and cannot work.

I was diagnosed with spondylilothesis about 2 years ago, and it has severely impacted my life. I was working as a roughneck on a drilling rig and could not keep the job long enough to get insurance so i could get it taken care of. I know that there is no permanent resolution to this problem. It leaves me without being able to do any kind of labor work, which i have always done. I have no other skills. I know construction and drilling and that is all. It has moved into other parts of my life, such as depression. I have no way to support my children. My back pain is at about a 3 constantly. When it "slips" i am useless. I can barely make it to the restroom when needed, and cannot even put my own shoes on. I don't know what to do, i am kind of seeking any advice possible. I have been told to go apply for government aid, but i do not know how. And even if they do pay for it, there is no way i would ever be able to do labor work again. My chiropractor that diagnosed it told me to watch my weight, but not being able to work, i have gained weight. I have put on about 30 pounds in the last 5 months, and it is right where i do not need it. On my stomach. It is making my pain more frequent and unbearable. If anyone knows any solutions, or has any ideas, please, let me know. I need to do something about this IMMEDIATLEY.

Spondylolisthesis sufferers can sometimes get relief by lying on their back and pulling their knees/thighs up close to their stomach.

As for treatments, there aren't really any... Your doctor is right though, losing belly weight can really reduce the severity of the pain.
