Old shoulder injury from fall - still sore

Old shoulder injury from fall - still sore

Hi,

I'm a 27 year old female and in 2006 I took a fall in the shower. Whilst trying to stop my self from falling I outstretched my right arm trying to grab something that wasn't there and pulled muscles in my shoulder. The pain was unbearable and I couldn't brush my hair or put a seatbelt over my shoulder. I had an xray but nothing showed. They just said I'd stretched or possibly tore my muscles. I was given painkillers and went to physio for 5 months which involved exercises and taping my shoulder and back. I moved countries and stopped physio, at which point the pain was on and off - usually if I was tired or having the seatbelt over my shoulder or overuse of my computer mouse.

In early 2010 I slipped on the ice and landed on the same shoulder and arm. I saw the doctor and she referred me to an osteopath, who said I was fine, despite being in pain (language barriers prevented me from disagreeing). Again the pain continued off and on. I'm so sick of the pain and no proper diagnosis. I have pain mainly in the front of my shoulder around my collarbone (it really feels as if my collarbone is aching) and in the muscle just below spreading towards my underarm, there is also pain on the top of my shoulder. I can't wear my brastrap over my shoulder at the moment because of the pain and pressure on my shoulder. What type of injury do you think that I have? And what type of treatment should I undertake? Should I see another doctor? I'm trying to write a PhD at the moment and any work on my computer is painful.

regards,
