neck pain after seeing chiropractor for back pain

I started seeing a chiropractor in late June for chronic back pain. My back pain is now gone but now I have severe neck pain. The neck pain started in August and gradually got worse over the next two months. I never had neck pain before going to a chiropractor, nor migraines. Both of which I now suffer from. I did not have an accident or any other significant event that can explain this neck pain. In October I decided to stop seeing my chiropractor and start seeing a physical therapist. My physical therapist has told me my atlas is slipping out of place which is causing the pain. I see her 3 times a week and she manually puts my atlas back in place. Having my atlas put back into place does help with the pain, but when I have to go several days without seeing my therapist (over a weekend) the pain can be quite severe. Furthermore, my atlas slips back out of place within hours of my seeing her. Further complicating my situation is the fact that I am 11.5 weeks pregnant and cannot have an xray or take anything other than tylenol for pain. I have now been seeing the physical therapist for 3 months and have noticed no significant improvement. I only continue to go for pain management. From what I have read, chiropractic medicine may be able to help my condition, but I am very skeptical about seeing a chiropractor. Especially when I suspect a chiropractor may have caused my neck problem in the first place. What relief, if any, can chiropractic care offer me? and how can I be sure that a new chiropractor will not do even more damage to my neck?
