pillows for children

Hello. My daughter is almost 4 years old and doesn't use a pillow to sleep. She has a fabric book that's about 1 inch thick that she uses in place of a pillow. I once read a woman say that her father did not allow them to have pillows because he wanted them to have good posture.
Are pillows a chiropractically recommended item? My daughter is perfectly happy without a pillow and I'm not going to push one on her unless she is in danger of subluxations from lack of a pillow.
When/If she decides that she does want one, what do you recommend? Firm, soft?
Thank you

I wouldn't force her to use a pillow at this stage. Kids tend to flop around too much when they sleep.

When she is ready to use one, buy something that isn't so large that it props her head up at and angle. The important thing for all pillows is that they keep the head level.
