7 days after taking azythromicin

7 days after taking azythromicin

Hi people! this is my first post, I'm sorry I'm so abrupt! Anyways, on to the point. 2 weeks ago I went to the doc for my yearly pap. Last wednesday a nurse called me telling me I needed to go for a treatment, cause I had chlamydia. Oh! so i went with my boyfriend and they gave us one dose of azythromicin (two pills, 1g total). We took them that same night. Now, today is a week after, actually I took them at this same time last Wednesday (it's 9:44pm). The problem is that I still have a little discharge. Like, 4 days ago the amount of discharge was bigger (not a LOT but a good amount) and now there's just a little discharge. My question is, am I still "getting cured" by az? Does it take more than 7 days to get rid of chlamydia, or maybe I have something else? (maybe its just my normal discharge)? I'm so hypochondriac, I'm checking my discharge religiously haah!

thank you all!

I know what you mean on the paranoia.  Read my post on Medication Failure and you will see why I completely understand.  It can take a little longer than a week.  How much longer, I do not know.

Now, in my case, there is a slightly "bigger picture".  So, I honestly don't think you have much to worry about.  Kudos to you not wanting to have sex until you are absolutely sure.  Maybe finish out (waiting for sex) the 2nd week to see how you feel about it.  Then get a test for cure after 30 days to be sure it is gone.  I've been told by my gynecologist that sometimes it takes a while for the natural flora in the vagina to balance out.  So, I would say if it's not smelly, or have a funky color, then you are most likely in the clear.

I hope mine does disappear soon! if the discharge doesn't go away, and I get re-tested and the chlamydia test comes back negative, I don't know what else I could have :S they already tested me before and I didn't have anything! aaaaa
I did see your post earlier yesterday. It ***** that you had to go through all of that, but the good thing is that at least now you know what you have, so you can treat it!
I'm just super paranoid because I'm not hurting, the discharge is yellowish but with no smell. I even skipped a period cause I was nervous about going to the gyno! ( I 've already skipped it before due to stress/being nervous) I've read sooo much about PID  so I'm very worried about it! But I also read here that when the gyno gave you a pap exam, while she was doing the pelvic exam on you, she would have noticed if you had it , right? I'm getting paranoid again :-(

Don't get paranoid.  That will only make things worse for you.  Did they test you for everything or just chlamydia/gonnorhea?

Sometimes it takes longer than we want for the natural balance to return in our bodies. We women are so sensitive to foreign things in our vaginas.  Try to relax.  Keep yourself occupied and stop checking for discharge everyday (I know that is hard...i'm still trying to stop that myself).  I think you will be fine.  You are just letting your mind play tricks on you at this point.

As far as a gyno noticing PID from a pelvic exam, I think she can feel if something is wrong with your reproductive organs, but unless you have symptoms that lead to a conclusion of PID...you get my point right?  So, I wouldn't worry unless your symptoms do not go away within the next week or 2.  It will be ok. :-)

I don't quite remember what they tested me for.... I have HPV and I've had BV before (quite a baggage!!)... so I def was tested for those and for chlamydia/gonnorhea. I don't think I've been tested for anything else (oh and HIV like a year ago). As I said, I went to my yearly pap a couple of weeks ago and the NP told me my cervix looks fine (hopefully the pap will come back normal!)
Thank you so much for all of your advice! you made me feel better :-)
