Ok, I tested negative in August of 2008 for all STDs. I went to a different doctor in November and BAM, he says I have chlamydia. I am sexually active with two people. I called them both up and asked if they had been with anyone else. They both denied it.
Long story short, I was on antibiotics for a bladder infection around the same time I was tested for these STDs in August. Is it possible that the antiobiotics for the bladder infection could have killed the chlamydia and that's why the test return an negative result? I want to believe both parties involved, but I don't know who to believe. And another question, is it possible that the doctor's office didn't perform the test correctly or perhaps didn't even send the labs off? I'm confused. And I have learned my lesson, to practice safe
Its more possible that the antibiotics in August masked the chlamydia bacteria enough to give you a false positive. Its not likely at all that the test wasn't done correctly or that the test wasn't done.
Its also possible that the symptoms you had from the urinary infection were instead chlamydia symptoms.
Your partners should test even if they don't have symptoms. Chlamydia can be without symptoms, so its important to test to find out if they have it.
