Can you be an unknown carrier of chlamydia

by sonia121, Jun 11, 2009 03:24PM
I was in a long distance relationship.  Before my last visit I had my yearly exam where I was tested for all std's.  All the results came back negative.  While I was visiting three days after the first time we had sex, we were not using condoms, I got a yeast infection.  I treated it with a one day over the counter medicine.  The symptoms seemed to be gone.  We did have sex through out the visit.  Less than a week later the yeast infection returned I went to the dr's they tested me for all std's again and my test results for clamydia (chlamydia) came back positive as well as bacterial vaginosis.  I've taken the rx's.  The question I had is I told my now ex boyfriend about the situation.  He said he had been diagnosed with chlamydia a couple weeks before he met me.  He was treated at a health clinic with 2 pills.  He is saying that he did not cheat on me at anytime in the relationship.  It had been about 3-4 months from when he was tested the first time to when I was diagnosed.  He said it could come back and he could have been a carrier unknowingly.  If this were the case wouldn't have the first test I had come back positive?  What are the chances of it coming back after treatment?

Okay need to clarify something... was the long distance relationship the ex boyfriend??

I will assume so for now, but NO chlamydia can NOT just come back you would need to be reinfected to get it again. And if he did still have it then he would have had pain. You tested neg. before seeing him so I would like to conclude he gave it to you.

Now another question, How long have you two been together?

Also, you said you've been taking rx's... ??? what is this, you should have been treated with either doxy or zithromax.

rx= prescription.    Her rx should have been the doxy or zithromax like you said.

To Sonia:  He told you the truth about being diagnosed and treated.  But he lied big time about how you got it.  Kdaily was right.  Once cured you do not get chlamydia again unless you were reinfected.  I'm glad he is now your ex.

In regards to your PM you sent me... (for some reason I couldn't reply to your message)

But any ways here is the answer to your PM:

There is the chance that the meds did not work and if he tested too soon after taking the meds he could have had a false Negative.... But Zithromax what your ex took is the best for chlamydia and works really well

It is a personal choice that you'll have to make and do you really trust him after this, you two are in a long distance relationship.

WERE, she said they were ;-)

But I completely agree. I don't think the meds didn't work on him ,thats almost impossible.
