Chance of false negative/not contracting chlamydia

I was tested towards the end of august for various stds and the results came back negative across the board. just recently my partner explained to me that she had tested positive for chlamydia since this time. my initial reaction was that she had of course cheated on me with someone else in order to contract it. i decided it would be best to be open minded about the situation and look at the facts. at the time of my first test, we had been together for 6 months. throughout that time there were countless instances of unprotected sex.
this brings me to my first question: is it even vaguely reasonable to believe that if she had had chlamydia before we were together, that it would actually be possible for my body NOT to get it from her after months of unprotected sex? and now to my second question, say i've had it from her all along, what are the actual chances that the urine sample test my doctor did in august was actually a FALSE negative? as i understand, years ago there was a 10% chance of a false result, but that now the tests are more accuarte...

any legit info is appreciated. please only respond with factual information!

No test is 100% accurate, so yes there is a chance that you had a false negative.  A lot depends on how the specimen is collected (if it was a urine test, had you waited an hour since your last urination?  Did you give the first part of the urine stream or the middle?  Were you on or had you been on antibiotics recently?)

The other chance is that she's had a false positive.

You need to get tested and treated, and your results will help explain all this.  It is possible that you wouldn't get it from her, but its not that likely since you had so many instances of unprotected sex.

i have been treated and retested and the results came in today and i tested positive for chlamydia.

i had been on antibiotics 3 weeks prior to the test because of a hand wound, but i only finished half of my perscription.(never got it refilled) but this is the first time i had been on antibiotics in years. my memory of peeing in a cup 6 months ago is so foggy but i have the vague feeling that it was uncomfortable for me give an adequate sample, so maybe i had urinated too recently. who knows though, maybe thats just what i want to "remember"...

it seems this is destroying our relationship... its very confusing what to think...

thank you very much for the response though!

oh and to clarify, i meant that i was on antibiotics 3 weeks prior to the test in august, not the one that was just done...

thanks again.

Do you know what antibiotics you took?  Its possible that it cured chlamydia then, and then you got re-infected by having sex with your gf.

Why is this ruining the relationship?

That probably wouldn't have cured it, but could have inhibited the growth of the bacteria enough to cause a negative test.
