Chlamydia - is it dormant?

by Confused853, Apr 13, 2009 03:55AM
I have been seeing this guy for over 4 months now - and we have been haivng unprotected sex within that time.  Last time both of us were involved with other people was 4+ months prior to us meeting and we have not had any other partners since we started seeing each other.

4-6 weeks ago I went to the doctor for having some spotting and possible UTI and at that time doctor tested me for STD along with BV and UTI - my results came back negative for STD and positive for BV and UTI - I followed the intructions of no intercourse and took all meds.

8 days ago the guy Im seeing called concerned of some of the symptoms he was feeling and asked if I was seeing other people - obviously NO was my answer as I have not been with anyone else and he claimed the same for himself.

On the day of the call he went to get tested and days later it came back with a positive Chlamydia.  I went a few days after and so far everything STD is negative except I have BV and UTI infections again.  I didnt have any nor do I have any symptoms now for anything STD or BV or UTI.  But I am taking meds and being treated for the positve result he got.

Now the last time we had intercourse from the day he called me was 5 days and oral sex 9 days prior.  Obviously there is tension and pointing fingers on his part but I know I did not have sex with anyone but him and crazy enough I do believe (99.9%) he hasnt either.

I would like to know if there was a way him or I could have had it in our systems from our previous relationships.   I do get recurrent BV and UTI since I was young - could that have something to do with it?  Please help!

Oh absolutely you could have had it before.  You have only been together for 4 months.  If you had said 4 years, I'd have said no way, but anything under a year, maybe 2, give or take, is possible.

I do wonder about your testing.  Were you on antibiotics, or had you taken them within the 2 weeks prior, at the time of your testing?  That could have caused a false negative for you.

My results came back negative for Chlamydia again.  First time and this second time I had the labworks done I was not on any medications.   I was put on meds after I had the labs done for the UTI and BV,   This is all too strange.

So you've had bv with all this?  BV can cause false positives.  Its uncommon but its happened.

False positives on his result (his came back positive for chlamydia)? - or False Negative on me since both of mine came back negative?

Oh sorry - I got all confused there.  Ignore that.

Well, one of you had to have a false result, and to be honest, you might never figure this out.  If you trust that he hasn't cheated, then chalk it up to a false positive on his part.
