Chlamydia 8 years?

In 2004 I went to a doctor because I had a uti (I get them all the time, I always have) he told me I had urethritis.  He didn't explain to me what it was only gave me antibiotics.  And yes I was sexually active with different partners, in 2005 I got married we both had std test and they came back negative.  Is it possible that it was doormant and that it was missed on my obgyn exams?  I've never had normal periods (they've always been very heavy), and as I said earlier I've always had issues with uti's, and I'me wondering after all this time what are the possible results from it being untreated.
