Chlamydia Results...could it be misdiagnosed??

Hi Dr. My partner had a blood test for chlamydia 2 months ago and it came back negative. I had a swab test done during my pap/std exam 2 wks ago and it cam back positive. I haven't been with anyone else and his test is negative. Not sure what is going on...is it possible that he had a false negative or I had a false positive (I retested btw)?? I've also been reading that blood testing for chlamydia isn't accurate. Is that true??

That is true in that a chlamydia blood test is not accurate/not used to diagnose the infection.  Its also been decribed as a useless test by doctors on the STD expert forum.  

It is possible he had a false negative and that you might have had a false positive.  

Im glad you re-tested once more; please let us know those results.  Since he has only tested via blood, ask him to re-test making sure its a urine test.

Know that false positives are more common that false negatives.
