Chlamydia Test In Malaysia

by oldskool80, Mar 07, 2009 12:54AM
I had possible exposure on June 2008 last year. Unprotected vaginal sex with CSW.
Since then, anxiety has killing me...

Had several test done:-

1. HIV 1&2 antibody (ELISA) at 6wks, 19 wks (4 mnths++), 25 wks (6 mnths++) & 35 wks (8 mnths++).- all came     back negative
2. Full screen body test (liver, blood profile, kidney, urine, Hep B Ab & Ag) at 6 wks, 19 wks, 25 wks. - result ok.
3. STD test at 35 weeks. (using blood)
    Chlamydia IGG - negative
    VDRL/TPHA - negative
Herpes 1 IGG - positive (common in most population)
    Herpes 2 IGG - negative

My questions:-

1. Can i ignore the HIV infection and move on??
2. Test lab in Malaysia mostly using blood to detect Chlamydia antibody (IGG). Very difficult to get
urine / swab test for Chlamydia & Gonorrhea. They said the test is accurate to detect infection.
    Is it true??
3. Is the STD test accurate after 8 months possible exposure.

Thanks.

All of your tests are accurate at the time frames you had them.  The blood tests aren't the best, but are usually more likely to give false positives than false negatives, so I wouldn't worry at all.

You can move on from this.  :)

Thanks for your answer.

1 more question to confirm.
Chlamydia IGG will stay positive for a life time once we got infected right?? Is it possible the IGG reading will turn negative once it treated??
or IGM test is required to determine recent infection where the IGG reading remains positive for a life time in infected person??

Sorry for another question.

I felt twitching in my genital area (between penis and anus) and all over my body as well.
Is it one of the chlamydia symptoms or a symptom of anxiety??
What does it actually means by genital itching??

thanks for your kind info.

by auntiejessi, Mar 09, 2009 11:05PM
Yes, the IgG will stay probably positive forever, but you can still get chlamydia again if you've had it before.

Genital itching is like itching anywhere.  Tingling is a sign of anxiety, and you wouldn't get all over tingling from any std.

You've tested negative for everything.  You have nothing to be anxious about.  If you continue to have anxiety even with negative results, you should talk to your doctor about anxiety and a therapist.

Your info received with many thanks.

FYI, i also in process of quitting smoking. Already throw my cigar 4 months since end Oct 2008 (cold turkey).
Can be considered as a hard smoker with 1 or 2 packs per day.
All the symptoms i had probably mimic to each other.
Muscle aches, stiff neck, headache, muscle twitches, lightheadedness, lack of concentration, fatigue, excessive sweating (day & night), anxiety, nausea, constipation etc...

Therefore the conclusion is,
HIV & STDs related anxiety + smoking cessation anxiety = SUPER ANXIETY...

I'm trying to ignore all symptoms and trust my test result.
Test is fact right??
But according to doc, nicotine withdrawal symptoms will take time to
come back normal especially for hard smoker.

Need to learn how to control my anxiety probably...

Wish me luck buddy..  :-)
Nice to learn a lot from you..

by auntiejessi, Mar 10, 2009 10:58AM
Your symptoms could also be nicotine withdrawl, and not HIV.  They could also be mono, the flu, etc etc.

Good luck with the smoking - I smoke too.  Its HARD to quit, and its awesome you are trying.

Thanks for your support...

So for confirmation, all my tests are conclusive for the HIV & STDs as per my time frames are also out of the window period..

I can move on then except to learn treating my anxiety and panic attack...

Take care and don't smoke too hard.

c u later..

Thanks.

Yes, last time - you are fine, the time frames were fine, and you can move on.  :)

i found this article on the chlamydia trachomatis IgG serum test
and my anxiety has gone up again....

http://www.rapidtest.com/Chlamydia%20IgG_1407-11.doc

Please see the cross-reactivity study...above the REFERENCES....
I am not too sure by the statement below???

Cross-reactivity:

A study was performed to determine the cross-reactivity of the test to the following antibodies:

1. IgG of EBV, Mumps, Measle, and VZV.
2. IgG and IgM of Rubella, Toxo, CMV, HSV 1, and HSV 2.
3. IgM of RF.
4. IgG of ANA, anti- ds DNA.

"All positive samples tested give negative results."

My Question:-

1. Is it my positive HSV 1 result will affect the Chlamydia IGG result and give False negative result??

I've called the lab regarding the test and the technician said that my result is accurate due to the time frame and the chlamydia IGG test will not cross-reactivate with other
antibody to give false negative result.

Any opinion???

by oldskool80, Mar 11, 2009 04:19AM
To: Aj
Or even i tested positive for Herpes Type 1, the cross-reactivity will not occur & will not
affect my chlamydia IGG negative result??

by auntiejessi, Mar 11, 2009 06:45PM
No, it won't.  If you are concerned, just get a urine chlamydia test done and be done with it all.

Thanks for your advise.
I think my mis-interpretation of the statement make me more anxious & panic.

The correct interpretation will be like this (guess so):-
The statement means that even somebody tested positive for all the listed infections, the
Chlamydia IgG test will not be affected and will give accurate result due to no cross-reactivity of the test to those positive antibodies (negative result of the chalmydia test to those antibodies).

Need to ease my mind and cool down.
Huh...I'm sick with my anxiety & panic attack...
Argghh...Need to trust my own negative result...

Thanks for your input friend...
You have been so generous to share your knowledge....

God Bless...

If your anxiety is that bad, then talk to your doctor about it.  :)

Hahaha..i received my 2nd test for Chlamydia IgG today...
2 weeks after my first result....just for confirmation if there is false negative..
as expected..came back negative...
You're right..negative is negative.....

The doctor said that 9 months after exposure (37 wks) is accurate enough on the antibody IgG result....there's no need to test for IgM coz of my time frame and in Malaysia it is uncommon using IgM for chlamydia...pretty un-reliable....

IgG positive - infected
IgG negative - not infected

He also mentioned that once we got infected..IgG will show up on the blood test & remain positive and that's the first indicator for further testing required and it's a basic practise in Malaysia.

But what a shame...In Malaysia...they still believe that the window period for all STD tests are 3-6 months...including HIV...most people will die here coz of their anxiety by then..

Thanks for your guide
Trust my own result... :)

I've done urine test for UTI....
is it conclusive result if the test came back clear...
i.e pus cells, RBC, WBC, bacteria etc....

Thanks.

by auntiejessi, Mar 17, 2009 09:36PM
No, its not conclusive, but its a good sign that there were no WBC.

Aj

by oldskool80, Mar 17, 2009 10:41PM
To: Aj
What criteria did they use to determine UTI using urine test..??
usually the increase no. of WBC....any other else...
So far, i've done 4 urine test for UTI after my possible exposure..9 mnths back..
all came back normal...

just wanna learn something from u...

thanks...

by auntiejessi, Mar 17, 2009 10:59PM
Well, UTI is different than an std.  Clearly you don't have a UTI, and you probably don't have an std, but the only way to know for sure if you have an active gonorrhea or chlamydia infection is to do a urine or swab test.

Aj

by oldskool80, Mar 18, 2009 12:56AM
To: Aj
That means urine/swab test is required to detect chlamydia/gonorrhea for active or recent infection.

Is my IgG test which came back negative 2 times for chlamydia considered conclusive.
I don't have any possible exposure except the incident 9 months back. As per your comment & also my dr. comment, 9 months is long enough for the antibody to develop and will show on the IgG test and the result is conclusive.

The only thing that i need to do is urine/swab test for gonorrhea for sure coz i heard that it can be transmitted by unprotected oral sex. Is it true??

by auntiejessi, Mar 18, 2009 10:15PM
Yes, I'd get an gonorrhea test done, and be done with the testing.  Your 9 months tests are conclusive for the chlamydia.

thanks my friend...

your guide is highly appreciated...
i'll try to get the gonorrhea test done asap....

by auntiejessi, Mar 19, 2009 09:35PM
I don't think you need to rush out and take it.  In fact, I'd be surprised if you have it, but you seem worried, so I think testing will give you peace of mind to move on from this.

the only one i know is HIV...how about others??

thanks.

by auntiejessi, Apr 09, 2009 12:23PM
No.

You are negative for EVERYTHING.  Its time to move on.

Anxiety can cause night sweats.
