Chlamydia Testing

I was tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea in October and never heard anything back, so I assume the tests were negative.About 2.5 weeks ago I was tested for chlamydia at my gyno, the test was negative. Two days after that, I had unprotected sex and got worried so I went to get tested at a clinic 6 days later. I got the results back and I tested positive for chlamydia. Is it possible chlamydia showed up so soon after the unprotected sex?

Yes it is possible. If you have not medicated I suggest retesting.

I was medicated the day I was tested, before the results came back. I'm really worried I still have it or something else because after taking the medication I had symptoms of a yeast infection so I took canestan and most of the symptoms got better but its been about 5 days since I stopped canestan and I still don't feel 100%. Is this normal??????

Yes, it can take up to 2 weeks.

All I want to do is get retested but it's too soon right? I took the azithromycin almost 2 weeks ago....I dont know if I have chlamydia still or maybe a different STD or if its a yeast infection? I am so worried I can't think about anything else

Try your best not to focus on a possible STD. Best to retest at 3-4 weeks after medication. I see no reason to think this is still a STD.

I went back to the doctor today because I am having trouble emptying my bladder. He did a urine test and said everything looks fine and then did a vaginal swab to check for BV/yeast and did not notice anything to do with their of them. He did say my white blood cell count was high though and he did not know exactly why. Its been two weeks since I've taken azithromycin, do you think that could of cause high WBC? Do you think I still have the infection?

I doubt that you still have the infection. High count means the body produced more to help fight something which could still be left over from the infection.

Hi Vance,
Firstly, just wanted to thank you so much for your replies and advice. I really appreciate your help in this stressful time. It's really hard to differentiate whats the truth and whats not about STDs with all the information on the internet and it seems that you know what you're talking about as I have seen you reply to many others in the forum.
Secondly, I just want your advice on one last thing, please.
So as I told you last week I went back to the dr. and he did a urine/vaginal swab and gave me doxycycline for 7 days. I just finished the meds last night and I am still feeling like I can't fully empty my bladder and it even started to burn just a tiny bit only AFTER I pee. I'm so confused and don't know what to think anymore! I've been non stop thinking about this for 3 weeks and I just want to know why I'm having this peeing issue. Do you think it's a side effect of medication? Because only AFTER I took the azithromycin did I get this problem of not emptying my bladder, I never noticed any chlamydia symptoms before taking the meds because I suspect I only had chlamydia for less than a week. I have taken the two medications prescribed for this STD and I dont even feel reassured that they have worked, what are the chances I still have chlamydia!? and is my issue of not emptying my bladder a major symptom of this STD? I can only get retested in about a month and I don't know what to think or do in the meantime! Sorry for the message being so long, I just wanted to be thorough in my explanation. Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks again!

I doubt that you still have chlamydia, it may be a side effect, medication can have different effects on our bodies.

Since you have taken all this medication I suggest giving it sometime. Wait 2 weeks, this should be enough time for the medication to fully clear your system. Of course if things get worse then follow up with your Dr. But wait 2 weeks and see how you feel.
