Hey! I have a situation. I met a girl last summer and she later became my girlfriend. We both tested for chlamydia after dating for a while and found that we were both infected. We both got treatment, and the symptoms disappeared... Now after about 4 months the symptoms are back. We first noticed that she had some unusual discharge
(white, foamy). Then a couple of days later I started feeling the general chlamydia symptoms that I've experienced before (the need to pee a lot, white discharge
, I knew right away something was up!) She went to a gynecologist and did a routine check and also got tested for chlamydia. The test came back positive... Now, I know I haven't cheated on her, and I really do not believe she has cheated on me neither. What are the possibilities here? I've read some places that for chlamydia in the throat there is a different treatment than what used for chlamydia of the genetalia (longer or stronger, I'm not completely sure). The meds we got when we got treated were different. She got the single dose of azithromycin, and I got the 7 days of doxycyclin. This time around we both got doxycyclin. However, we are not so eager to be infected again and this is tearing on the relationship as we do not want to have sex until we know it's gone. Is there a possibility that one of us has chlamydia in the throat that is not being killed off completely and is passed right back by oral sex? She asked her gynecologist at the routine check up, but she just told her that I most likely cheated on her!!! Really, I haven't... Since I met her she has also had a lasting hiccup which comes and goes daily, is this a sign of chlamydia in the throat? Btw, she was tested a month or so (urine test) after the treatment last time and the test was negative. I never got retested (as all the symptoms disappeared I figured it was no need). Could it be that the doxycyclin is ineffective for me? I know there are a lot of questions in here. I'm very thankful for any answers!
Can't give you any guarantee but most likely situation is this was aquired from someone else. Could she have had oral chlamydia...possible but rare. The medication should have taken care of it. Could you have had chlamydia still...possible but medication should have taken care of it.
When people get symptoms they would normally start 1-2 weeks after infection. And to have symptoms start so close together, it really sounds like this was a recent infection that she had aquired and then gave to you or vice versa.
Like I said can't guarantee anything but just giving you most likely situation, but nothing is ever 100% absolute.
We are now done with the second treatment. We waited an extra 24 hours after just to be sure the treatment was over and we had sex. She now has some pain when I enter, this is something that hasn't happened before.. she was wet so there shouldn't be any pain... We had sex before we went to bed and in the morning. After having sex in the morning i could feel that my lymph nodes in the groin are a bit swollen, and tender, especially on the left side.. This is so frustrating.. Any ideas??
No, would have to follow up with the Dr, could be the body and medication just working together to fight the infection. As for her pain, anything can irritate that area, so might be nothing big.
