Chlamydia or not Chlamydia that is a hard question?

Ok here's a mission impossible question for ya...

I had a breif (less than 5 minute) condom on hand to penis encounter after a night of binge drinking - I cut it short before ejaculating (I came to and realized where I was - got out ASAP)- I later finished the job by hand and passed out in my room.  I then returned home and had sex with my regular partner 2 times - 4 and 10 days after the encounter... Then 3-4 weeks passed I began to feel I had sore testicles - they felt swollen - I tried ejaculating to relieve the pressure and it worked... Next day talked to the doc who said all felt fine with the boys... But to be safe asked to do a urine test and check.  Turned that in the next day before the results came back the pain returned.  Saw the doc and he gave me 7 days of Doxycycline just to be safe.  

Test results (NAAT - for Chlamydia) 5 weeks post - negative...

Pain is still prevolant for about 2 weeks so I return to the doc who then orders an ultrasound - this shows some abnormalities in blood flow between the 2 and a swollen edypitmal head on one side.

2nd Urine Test is sent in (7weeks)- Comes back negative -expected after Doxytreatment but pain still there

Doc then retreats me with Doxycycline for 14 days to get deeper into whatever is causing the pain.  Just prior to this 2nd treatment I have slight sticky discharges which come after urinating.

14 days later things feel ok but I have not discussed with my regular partner seeing as I have tested negative across the board  - Side note - Also after swelling I was worried and abstained till the 3 month mark where I tested for HIV, Syphillis (syphilis) and Hepatitis - All negative... (probably not necessary but better safe than sorry) So its over three months - I have completed a 2nd treatment with Doxycycline I am clear of everything.

Not sure if I had anything - if so did I transmit to my partner???  I engage her and all is fine... 3 days later minor discharge again with urinating and one night of complete smear of something whitish(resembles semen) in my shorts... Woke up seeing that got a 1st void urine sample - 3 days removed from intercourse 4 days off the doxy and took it in... Reults - Negative... :-)

I am losing it by now cause Everytime I feel great and think I'm free it comes back...  The night of the negative result I engage my partner again - 2 days after her peiod ended - when cleaning up I wiped off what looked to be a bit of dried blood from inside her left on me... I also noticed slight spotting on her pj pants in the morning.  To cap off a terrible run here I go to the bathroom in the afternoon and the 1st 2-3 seconds of a 10-12 second release came out cloudy then cleared.  

Is it possible for science to fail me so many times, DO I have something or Never did? or what else could this be???

OK I'm a little confused - did you have a handjob with a condom on?

If that's the case, and that's all you did, there is no risk of anything, and that's why all your tests are negative.  Even without a condom, handjobs don't transmit stds.

I read your history the same as AJ. You have no risk. The pain you are having is probably not STD. The antibiotics you have taken would also treat prostatitis. Your MD is still the best judge of what is going on. I would be patient and continue under his care. Take care.

Yes you all read it correct - I may have not made it clear when I said binge drinking that there were several blackout periods throghout the night due to excess alcohol and I agree there should be no risk but I have been told by several STD nurses and doctors which I have spoken to that any contact can transmit - so i'm unsure 100% that it was all condom on but i am pretty sure it was all handjob... but that's what I saw when I came to and as I mentioned put a stop to it... I may have touched the other person(not sure) and then when I touched/relieved myself later passed it on... I do not know - the tests support your thoughts and my beliefs but God help me the physical symptoms say I have got something wrong... I will see my GP again till this goes to sleep but what a rollercoaster ride its been in my head...

I have read so much on this and STD's/HIV in the last 3 months I can teach a course but with all the symptoms in myself - discharge/pain/cloudy urine now?  I just can't see how my tests could be all negative(DO not get me wrong - I'm extatic) - just scared becuase I just want to know so if I did infect my current partner I can ensure she is treated...

You tested negative.  You can't infect your partner with something you don't have.

I'd urge you to follow up with your doctor, or even better, a urologist.

Once again I have to agree 100% - my only concern is what are the chance of having a false negative from my 1st test... As I have mentioned the symptoms are sickly saying I've got something...  If I had a false negative on the 1st test (wasn't 1st void but close) - I took aim 1st then caught the stream... But i've read that can affect testing - too much can affect testing(dilute it) if more than 30 ml... So if that is possible then - I may have had it been treated - obviously gotten rid of it... and now I am being put to the test again as I engage in sex with my partner (who was possibly infected - if I did by some chance have it) - since doing so the 2 times I have had sex again brought about discharge(lots at 1st) 4 days after sex and 5 days after leaving my 2nd doxy treatment... minor after than and has disappeared recently till I had sex again 2 nights ago 5 more days from the 1st time and then got the cloudy urine yesterday... I did take a 1st void into the Doc again today but he is only checking it for protein - he believes the chlaymdia test after 4 days to be accurate - is there a time where it can give false negatives as well?  Too many variables and symptoms with no cause.  I just want to put it all to be gone away so I can get on with my life.  Thanks for your comments/advice all it is truly appreciated...

Hi - I just read in one of your other posts to another question that testing needs to wait for a certain time...  My 1st test was the only one that was previus to any drugs... are the other test results invalid due them being done less than a week off of my doxycycline treatments?  - then if so the only valid test and possibly false negative would have to be the 1st one... cause of the timing of the others but then I was also told if you have symptoms the test would be positive regardless... such a mess - i'm glad I will never go through anything like this again... The other tests might be invalid, but your first one was negative.

If you gave too much urine, they wouldn't be able to do the test, and would let you know that.

Seriously, you are freaking for nothing.  You got a hand job with a condom.  Even if you blacked out and don't remember the rest, do you really think someone who would use a condom for a hand job would have sex without a condom?  

If this much anxiety is not new for you, you should seek help for it.  I say that with kindness, not criticism.

Thanks for your comments and kind words - this is the 1st time for me to be worried sick like this and I agree it could be all good but just to give you 100% of the picture heres what i've gone through besides the testing

2-days after had a rash on forehead - major breakout
constipation for a few days
then after using laxitives/suppositories diahrrea for about 1 month
testicle pain after 3-4 weeks quite painful
relieved as I mentioned by ejaculating before doc saw - he then thoguh nothing as swelling seemed less
testicles defiantely hang lower than before and were tender
gave urine sample probably a bit too much 2/3s (40ml) and not 1st void - negative
doc gave my the doxy 7 days still pain present
so at 2.5 mos ultra sound was done and ER doc reports that the results look like chlamydia with the swollen epiditimal head and excess color in left test vs right
doc gives 2nd treatment of doxy - pain finally subsides mostly (2 mos later)still minorly noticable though even today
you know of the other tests which were within a week of each doxy treatment
but in the 1st month after the encounter I also lost 10 pounds in a 5 day span which took me 2/3 weeks to regain and I know I have eaten a bit more than previously
I encountered night sweats for about 2 weeks ( weeks 3-5 after) they then quit
As I mentioned I was tested for HIV - I did so at 6 - 8 - and 12 weeks as I was extremely nervous - also clear at 3 mos for syphillis (syphilis), and Hep B,C.  They never checked for herpes as I had no signs and have had a cold sore in the past...
I know I was treated so it would have been gone but now after having sex with my partner who I may have infected previous to being treated - we're starting again...

regarding her at 1 point there was some clear with brownish discharge a few days after period and recently left some on me after intercourse + had minor spotting again after period...

I know I sound insane but thats a lot - too much to encounter without having had some sort of reason...  My biggest fear is of course for my partner as I could not live with myself if I hurt her or lost her due to this...- After coming off the doxycycline and having intercourse with her when could I be accurately checked so that I know 100% that I am and she is ok...Thanks again for your time and advice

I've also had a slight rash across the bridge of my nose and cheeks which has a slight burn and has been there for 3 months - doc said it didn't look infectious but it hasn't gone away and I broke with about 15-20 little pimples the other day which have since been popped and went away but slight burn is still there... Is there any chance of it being anything else - I'm just worried about the blackout period... I know you can't say much cause you and I both know nothing of that time and symptoms are only so much to go by but... I'm just lost and do need serious follow up/ help... Thanks

2 more things I forgot... As I continue to ramble about this but I also have had very oily skin since that time - when I wipe my hand across my forehead my fingers shine and I have had 3 outbreaks of geographic tongue where patches have covered as much as 2/3 of my tongue.  During this time I also seem to get small sores in my mouth - potentially from foods but again too much of this just goes against my body torturing myself from guilt...  I know the mind is powerful but is it also evil...?  Trying to move on but not getting very far... NONE of this sounds like chlamydia.  Even if it was chlamydia, the doxy would have cured it.

I don't know what it is that you have going on - maybe stress-related symptoms? - but you should follow up with your doctor.

There is no way you got chlamydia, you've been on 2 rounds of doxy, and have tested negative for it.

See someone for the guilt - that's what's eating at you, and probably causing at least some of this, if not all.

I agree I am cured right now but I need to retest again - If I had it before the meds and by some chance got a false negative ...I would likely have given it to my partner who I am again having sex with and could be infected... My original concern was could I have gotten it...possibly - not likely but possibly... and if so - I'm gonna have it again soon if my partner got it pre-doxy... So I'm not sure what else there is to say - you've given me your time and advice as well as compassion and yes I am guilt ridden but didn't think that could cause so much... I guess we'll see over the next few weeks - I am going to test again when is the best time to ensure an accurate result - time after doxy and time after intercourse... Stress might not cause all your symptoms, but chlamydia can't be the cause of much of what you listed - the rash on the forehead and nose (sounds like rosacea), constipation (though that and the diarrhea might be from the meds), changes in the shape of your testicles, night sweats, weight loss.  None of those would be caused by chlamydia.

Weight loss, night sweats, skin changes, bowel changes can all be caused by stress.

Just this last question then - I asked it above as well but as much as I want to believe I have never had anything I can't until I can be sure my partner does not have anything which I might be getting back as we speak...

What are the time lines I need to adhear to to ensure my safety and hers from chlamydia being there and not having symptoms(specifically in her)

From my last doxy treatment when(how long - till i can be reinfected)can I be sure that if I have sex with my partner and she has anything at all(which I may have given her if I had anything to start with) that I would then be able to get it back...

2nd what are the probabilities of transmission from infected to uninfected persons

and 3rd when from that time when can I test to ensure that I can know if I do or do not have anything from her... I know this is paranioa but I have to do whats right to be safe for both of us, more so her... I will be honest if there is an issue but if I can get by this and never compromise anything ever again - I will keep the smile on her face and not take it away - she loves me and I didn't mean in any way to ever let anything like this happen so I just have to be sure she's ok...

As for the other symptoms thank for letting me know they are possible stress related - I've heard that but again I have a black out to get past and when you look up anything STD related they all also fall into HIV - I was stressed till the 3 month point on that one huge - know i'm just focussed on what might be more realistic and possible - not necessarily probable but possible - cause the mind surely can't be this strong... or maybe it can(if so its amazing and cruel)... Likely my last post with questions so in advance thanks for your time and again advice, caring and expertise...  Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and your time obviously helps alot of people so God Bless you and all those in need...

Hey - I just re-read everything and I can't believe I didn't mention this either through everything but I also had an ultrasound done on my testicles - slightly larger left epiditimal head(where the pain was coming from) and minimal color on the right testicle - left testicle more color - doc in the ER minor treatment area said it was likely Chlamydia.  Actually he was quite positive it was - I told him about the negative urine test and he said it wouldn't have picked up the infection this far down - is that possible...
It was right after that when my doc gave me the 2nd treatment of doxy just to be sure if anything was there that it was gone... So thats the last bit of info and if you'd be kind enough to respond to my above questions I'll be signing off to "hopefully" move on with my life... again as I said you do a wonderful thing here and it is truly appreciated by posters and readers alike...

No, the test would have still picked it up.  

If you are a heterosexual man in the US (or other developed country), it is highly unlikely that you would ever get HIV.  Even if you had unprotected sex with an infected female, your odds of getting it are about 1 in 2000.

I understand you had the blackout, but I think you need to remember that someone who uses condoms for hand jobs isn't going to have unprotected sex.

Time frames  - well, that varies from person to person.  Test a month after taking your last doxy, and you should be good.

Thanks for the reassurance - again... so heres my up to date scenario

Off Doxy Nov 29

Sex with Potentially infected partner who doesn't know she may be infected on Nov 30 and Dec 3 - Dec 4 doc took urine test negative even though I have symptoms (major discharge and minor swelling in groin/testicles)

Symptoms seemed to subside - getting better minor discharge only ever few days so, no discharge for a few days retested on Dec 16 and again the result - negative...  I'm getting ready to celebrate (a bit prematurely but i'm seriously relieved) and I get home to find what looks to be some more discharge in the jockeys and the minor pain in the groin testes has returned...

Testing was Nucleic Acid Amplification

This result is still too early to be 100% right... So I still have to wait another 2 weeks to be sure we're both clear? or could the infection be in the epidytimis and not in the urine?

Its not too early, but its somewhat concerning that you are having sex with symptoms.  I know you are trying to find out if you will be re-infected, but I didn't realize you would be having sex.  I thought you already had.

You stopped the doxy on the 29th, had sex the last time on the 6th, and tested again on the 16th.  That's more than enough time to test again after the meds, and more than enough time for a chlamydia test to be accurate.

This isn't chlamydia.

You need to follow up with your doctor and find out why you are having these symptoms.

Once again BIG THANKS... I'm confused though... I finished the meds on the 29th... only had sex on the 30th and 3rd - gave the urine sample on the 4th which was negative... That was when the symptoms started late on the night of the 3rd/morning of the 4th(heavy discharge of whitish spots on my black briefs)... That's why I chose to get the test done... So I never had sex with symptoms - I reattained them after the 2 encounters on the 30th and 3rd...

I haven't had sex again since then but I did retest on the 16th thinking the test on the 4th was too early... So I still have some minor pain which seems to be relieved when I masturbate...  There is a slight drip after urinating(looks like urine- just a few drops seem to always be left) and occasionally I seem to have small amounts of sticky semen like discharge as well...

So to simplify this Ifor both of us 'll point form the questions...

1.If I was off meds on the 29th - sex on the 3rd (4days later)would reinfect me if she had it... the doxy in my system wouldn't still be present to fight the infection?
2.If I had symptoms the test on the 4th should have been positive?
3.If I continued to have symptoms the test on the 16th absolutely would have been positive?
4.Is it possible as I asked above that as the ER doctor suggested if its in the epiditymis then it s too far down and wouldn't be recognized in the urine sample?
5.Is there anything else possible you can think of to cause the symptoms but not be an STD? or a different one which we aren't looking at?
6. How can I possibly thank you for all your time and expertise?  

Forever grateful... to have you with me through this ordeal and the info to your other posters made this much easier to handle... I am following up with my doc again next week... If you'd like I can let you know where it ends up... Once again Thanks, God Bless and Merry Christmas!

1 - No, the doxy might still have been in your system.  I'd say it might be possible, but its unlikely.

2 - Maybe not, since you had just stopped the doxy a week before.

Ok I had a very similar situation and am buggggggggging out.
First of all I had protected sex and the girl that i banged or should i say "hooker" put ky on her vagina with her hand.  After she took off the condom and gave me a handjob.  
Next day - pain in the left testicle.  A day later I go to doctor and he tells me its not STD, its epidetimis (or whatever its called).  He tells me im fine and that I can have unprotected sex with my gf.  I do that later in the evening.  

10 days later i start reading about this and start freaking out again.  What if my gf got it from me and what if the doctor is retarded.

My real question is - how fast do testicles actually start to hurt after unprotected sex or handjob - or was this caused purely by the fact that I got way too drunk and stayed up drinking for 24 hours.  Is it possible to have symptoms the next morning after getting chlamydia?

You wouldn't get any symptoms of any std within 24 hours.  You also wouldn't get an std from a handjob.

You do need to follow up with the doctor if you are still having pain.  If this isn't your only encounter outside your relationship, you could have an std from that.

And there is no way, ever, that I would give you advice about how to give someone medication without their knowledge.  What if she were allergic to it and got very sick and didn't know why?

I understand not wanting to get caught, but that seems terribly selfish to me.
