Chlamydia symptoms not going away

I had a condom break on my about 10 days ago.  I was ok for the first couple of days but then I started to have some pain after urinating and i always felt like I had to go even though i didn't.  I went to the emerg immediately and they took a urine sample and treated me for Chlamydia and Gon. at the same time (4 pills of Azithromycin + 1 i don't remeber).  The following two days I develped irritation around the top of my penis and I again went to a walk in right away.  The doctor there said it looked normal and was simply an irritation and to forget about it.  I did mention everything that was currently happening.  The irritation was indeed gone by that evening and has not returned.  On day 4 and 5 I have been much better.  The only symptom I have ever had is a burning after urinating.  Never while urinating.  I am still anxiously awaiting my results.  My fear is if they are negative....could this be herpes or something worse.  They say you cannot test for herpes unless you have the other symptoms or within 72 hours of the start of an outbreak.  I am very scared about it.  Should the burning be gone by now if this was Clamydia (chlamydia)?  can it take this long to go away?  Any help is greatly appreciated.  This scares the **** out of me. :(

The irritation at the tip of your penis could be from chlamydia, if you have it.  

How many days has it been since you took the meds?  They can take a full week to work.  Have you had sex since then?

I took the meds 5 days ago.  I have not had any sex since then.

I guess there are two things I am most concerned about.  

1)  Can it take 7 or more days for symptoms of Chlamydia to clear, or even more.

2)  What are my options if the test comes back negative?  Is it possible that this could be herpes and that my symptoms will dissappear and I will never know unless I have an outbreak?  That is my biggest fear.  Becasue the symptoms have not passed in 5 days I am worried that I do not have Chlamydia.

I guess I am hoping for some peace of mind.  This is scary stuff and I've learned some lessons the hard way.

1 - It can take a week or two for all symptoms to totally clear.

2 - Its not herpes.  You'll know more when your results come back in.
