Heres the story, I tested positive for chlamydia 2 and a half months ago and was treated with 1000mg of azithromycin. I informed my partner who also tested positive and was treated the same way. About a two weeks ago i started to feel symptoms such as burning urination, but shrugged it off as dehydration. I havent had sex
(after I had felt symptoms). I trust this girl and i dont think she has cheated (i gave it to her in the first place) however i do know that the possibility is there. My question is whether it is possible for chlamydia to survive a treatment of azithromycin? what are the odds?
In your other post you mentioned being positive after testing again 4 days ago. Did your partner retest as well? It is difficult to say whether or not you had medication failure or not. If your partner is negative, then either the medication failed or you had a false positive and have something else going on. If she is positive as well, then either your medication failed or she was reinfected from the medication not working on you. The worst case scenario is she cheated.
Unfortunately, you would have to just follow your gut on this. Do not have any kind of sex (vaginal or oral) for at least 10 days after you have both taken the prescribed treatment and make sure to use condoms until you are sure BOTH of you are chlamydia free. You can go back for a test for cure about 30 days after you take the current round of meds.
I have also experienced some testicular discomfort, only in the right testicle. Could this be epididymitis? And if so could the spread of the clamydia (chlamydia) to the testicular tubes be the reason it wasnt cured with only 1000mg of azithromycin?
I do not know what the recommended treatment for epididymitus is. The testicular discomfort may be an indication that you could be getting it. But you should follow up with your provider and inform them of new symptoms.
