Chlamydia

by Britt888, Jun 14, 2009 10:26PM
I was diagnosed with Chlamydia last week.  When I was tested in March the test said I didn't have it.

My boyfriend and I have been together since January.  He says he has not been sexually active with anyone else since, could it have been dorment in his body and he just gave it to me? Could it be possible that my test from March was wrong? What is the percentage that my test in March was wrong?

Chlamydia does not lay dormant, It is possible to have a false Negative and it is possible to have a false possitive.

If you haven't already taken the meds I would get retested... If you have your BF needs to get tested and treated. And you can see his results.

When did you two first have unprotected sex?? And how frequent do you two engage, If a lot since Jan. and if his results turn out pos. then he's most likely been with someone else.

There is no such thing as chlamydia being dormant.  It is possible for you to have had a false negative. The odds depend on various factors.  The most likely reason is human error. Usually improper specimen handling.  Another factor is the type of test used.  Some have more accurate results than others.  I believe the NAAT is best.

Are you having symptoms?  There is a slight chance of a false positive as well. You could have him test.  That is the only way to find out at this point if you are being treated.

We were both treated.

We have been together since January and he says that he has been faithful to me and I have been to him.  I was tested in March at the gyno and was negative for it.  I was just wondering if there is a chance that my test in March was false negative?
