Clamydia Antibiotic

by Rio2626, Feb 19, 2009 05:14PM
Greeting!

I'm aware that there are certain antibiotics that are prefered in the treatment of clamydia (chlamydia) here in the US. However, I'd like to know if cefadroxil would be capable of ending the infection? What would be the recommended doseage?

I thank you kindly in advance for your time and attention. Medhelp is an invaluable source...

BTW, I'm a 30yo male who is free of any allergies and overall very healthy.

Thanks again...

Its a cephalasporin, and aren't effective treating chlamydia.  If you think you have chlamydia, you should be seen and tested by a doctor.

Oh and I should add that if you take an antibiotic on your own and find no improvement of symptoms, the antibiotic can cause false negatives on chlamydia testing, thus delaying a diagnosis and treatment.

Taking meds you don't need also causes resistance, for you so when you need it to work it might not, and for others, as a lot of the bacteria can become resistant to it.

Thanks for the reply. I will be purchasing Azithromycin online. I can't seem to get an exact answer on the dosage I will be needing. Can you enlighten me please?

Options are AZICIP 3 tabs @ 500mg, 6 tabs @ 250mg,  Azithromycin (Zithromax) 24 tabs @ 1000mg?

Can I just take the 3 tabs @ 500mg in one and only dose?

Thanks in advance...

Have you been diagnosed with chlamydia?  I can't advise you to self treat.

I'm 100% sure it is as my current gf was just diagnosed this week. Burning sensation during urination and yellowish extracts... Don't have health insurance so won't be going to a doc... Will be buying and taking the meds so I'd appreciate it if someone can suggest dosage so that I don't actually do myself harm by taking the wrong amount.

Btw, I'm not asking your advise on treatment. Simply asking what is the dosage for best result under the before mentioned assumption... You can attach a link to a study if your concern about the legal mombo jumbo...

*This is a binding legal statement governed by the state of NY. (<-- I can't sue anymore...)

Anyone please?

WebMD states a 1 time dose of it at 1g... I'll be taking that unless I get some feedback saying that's not the best option.

Oh and no sex for 7 days from your treatment, or hers if it comes after yours.
