Clear Discharge Increased After Treatment Began

I began treatment for Chlamydia with DOXYCYCLINE (14 pills, twice a day) on day 1.  By day 3, the amount of clear discharge has increased a lot and it is happening all day now.  I assumed it would decrease as the doctor told me symptoms should go away in a day or two.  I'm still urinating frequently and there is noticable irritation in my ureathra near the tip of my penis.  

Is this a common outcome during treatment?  

Is the wrong treatment being applied?

Additionally, how many days after the beginning of treatment is chlamydia non-contagious?
