Epididymitis (Chlamydia suspected)

I was given swab tests at the doctor and it was determined I had Chlamydia.  I took 1g azithromycin and about 1 week later I had pain at the bottom of my right testicle.  Doctor ordered an ultrasound (sonogram) and my right testicle was slightly larger with an infection at the bottom and in the Epididymis.  A round of very painful Intramuscular Ceftriaxone (Rocephin) injections was prescribed (no lidocaine added) - 2 per day for 3 days (1g per injection). This was combined with a continued 500 mg of azithromycin per day.

After 3 days I have noticed no improvement and, in fact, I have started to again notice slight pain when urinating - a symptom that had gone away several weeks ago when I took a gonorrhea/chlamydia cocktail (including Cefixime and Azithromycin).  The doctor has now prescribed IV treatments, 2g of Ceftriaxone BID, with continued use of azithromycin.

My question is whether or not this is working.  Could it be something else?  Is there some problem with the azithromycin? Perhaps I took too much in the past few weeks and now it is ineffective.  The doctor is aware that I superdosed the Z-pack twice now, but urges me to continue taking 500 mg per day.
