Flagyl for chlamydia??

by daddysgirl41, Jun 17, 2009 08:59AM
I have recently been tested positive for chlamydia trachomatis and my doctor prescribe me Flagyl which I haven´t start taking it yet. I have never heard about this infectious disease, but by searching online, I now know that is a STD and that is treat with antibiotics such as doxycycline. So why did the doctor prescribe flagyl? Was I prescribe with the wrong medicine? Which medication should I take?
I really appreciate some feedback.

Flagyl is used to treat trichomonas or bacterial vaginosis.  Proper treatment for chlamydia is doxycycline or azithromycin (zithromax).  Flagyl will not cure chlamydia.
