The first (unprotected) in January - no symptoms following.
The second (protected) in February (25th to be exact) - no symptoms...yet...?
However, my third encounter (unprotected) was closely following the second on March 7th.
Of the 3 partners - I would be most concerned about the 1st one, least (stress least - I'd bet money I did not contract anything from the 3rd) concerned about the 3rd (and of course the 2nd was protected).
Appx 3-5 days after my third encounter, I got a yeast infection. Over-the-counter cream was effective, as well as diflucan. Problem solved. I continued sexual
relations with the third partner (now my only partner).
I just got another yeast infection - 1 month after the first one. I called my doctor, explained my symptoms (red, itchy, irritated). She prescribed diflucan (I also used the leftover cream from first time), and it is clearing up nicely.
I am concerned that the recurring yeast infection (note: had not had yeast infection for years prior) might be something more? I've read the symptoms of chlamydia and I got worried when I saw bleeding between periods as an indicator. I had been "spotting
" - extremely lightly - for about 3 days around the time the yeast infection started, but this is normal for me because I've been on the Lybrel birth control pill (the one where you don't have periods) since end of January. Actually, could the switch in birth control pills be triggering yeast infection?? Also, I had mild lower back pain 2 days ago that went away within a day, and yesterday my middle back was a little sore (which I attributed to Pilates). Back seems ok now.
My question is - Is chlamydia responsive to diflucan treatments? Does this sound like a typical yeast infection? Could I have contracted an STD from the 1st partner (end of Jan) and have it manifest middle of March?
You could have a yeast infection from switching pills, or you could have gotten chlamydia from partner 1 in Jan, or even from partner 3 in March. (You used condoms
with partner 2, so I doubt it was from him.) You could even have yeast AND chlamydia.
I'm not sure why you are so sure it wasn't partner 3, but anyone can have an std. All it takes is one time.
My suggestion for you is to go get tested. Taking meds for something you aren't totally sure you have isn't a good idea, though I can see why the doc just called in diflucan. The only way you are going to know for sure is to test.
