Hi,
I had a brief affair with a married man 6 months ago. I'm also married. A month ago my husband told me he tought something was wrong (light discharge
/burning). I had no symptoms. I got tested right away and found out I had chlamydia. He kept pushing back his appointment to get tested and finally never went. We both took the medication and got treated.
My questions are, can I have caught it from my affair with the other man? We had sex
a few times without protection.
My husband got symptoms 5 months after the affair, can it take that long for the symptoms to come out?
I'm just trying to find out if he's been unfaithful too and maybe gave it to me. He says no, but...
If symptoms show, they will show within 1-4 weeks normally. It is possible but not very likely this was from your affair. The fact that you used a condom
....and intercourse is protected, how does it go from the mouth to the vagina (it's sounds stupid when I read my question, but I just don't get how exactly it's transmitted).
Also, do you know if it can come back. I did have chlamydia last year (the doc said it seemed to have been there for a long time, since it had a big impact on my reproductive system). Is it possible that it's the old chlamydia that showed up again?
Do you know if the symptoms can appear, disappear and re-appear later on if not treated?
And a more personal question, are you a doctor?
Thank you for your time.
It really isn't that complex at all. Chlamydia is completely curable. It does not reoccur like herpes. You can however be re-infected either with the same infection if your partner was not treated or with a new one which is the case for you. Symptoms will not go away and come back. Once they start, they only get worse without treatment.
Chlamydia is only transmitted through genital contact with a partner who has the infection. It is all about fluid transfer. It is a bacteria that loves to live in dark, warm, moist places. That is why i affects the urethra. It is sensitive to the air and this is why oral transmission is possible, but not a likely occurrence.
No, I am not a doctor. You will not find any doctors on the free forums. I have had chlamydia twice and have done quite a bit of research myself. You can find great information on all std's at www.ashastd.org.
