More Info, same question: when to resume sex?

by tunafiddle, Jun 23, 2008 07:37PM
I left out an important detail in my question. Sorry:
I am in a long-distance relationship. I see my partner about one weekend a month.
I messed up and had oral sex with a stranger. I now have chlamydia. I've talked all this through with my partner. He has been very understanding. This is not a pattern with me, and I want to put this all behind me.
I started treatment today with Doxycycline, 100 mg twice a day for 15 days.
My partner is coming to see me in ten days. Again, he knows about the situation.
I do not want to give my partner the disease.
At what point from now, day one of treatment, would my partner be safe having oral and anal sex with me?

Hi there -

Have you not had sex with him since you were with the other person?  If you have, then he needs to be treated.

And you got chlamydia from oral sex?  That almost never happens, so that surprises me.  Some experts say it never happens at all.

In any case, your bf should be tested to make sure he isn't the one that gave it to you.

I'm also not sure why you are on it for 15 days - usually 1 week is the recommend course of treatment.  If there is a specific reason you are on it for 15 days, you need to take it the entire time, and not have any vaginal or anal sex, and your bf should not perform oral on you, just in case, until you have finished the meds.

I think its really important that your bf test, regardless of the circumstances.
