News about Chlamydia 14 yrs later

I was visiting with friends today. When shocking news was brought up. It seems a group of close buddies all claimed that one girl brought them medication for them to take for chlamydia. All were with her around the same time. Well what is scaring me is I was with this same girl around the same time period. I was never informed about this news.

I am now terrified I have been infected with this illness all of these years and now have harmed my body. A bit about me I have not been very sexually active over these years. Only a few partners. For the past few years I have been with the same woman and actually have been having unprotected sex in hopes of having a child.

I have had a few blood checks for basic medical exams I am unsure if any of them tested for chlamydia. I have never been tested just for STD. I am unsure of what kind of feedback I am expecting from this post, I am just putting it out there and maybe someone has some information for me.

The best thing to do is just go and get tested straight away in case and if you do have Chlamydia, inform any other partners who could have it. As you have never been tested, I suggest having a full check-up for everything when you go and from now on, do so either every 6 months of after each new sexual partner-whether the sex is protected or not because it is still possible, although unlikely to contract STD's with the use of condoms etc. Don't panic until you know anything for sure but do go and get checked asap. Hope this helped

You wouldn't have chlamydia for 14 years and not know it.  The longest I've ever seen anyone go without symptoms is a year and a half.  Some experts say up to 4 years, but I haven't seen it that long, and think that's stretching it.

Still, get tested if you've never tested, and there is no reason to freak out here.
