to undergo a test for Bactria Vaginosis, Chlamydia and gonorrhea. The BV came up positive and the Gonorrhea and Chlamydia was negative. I was given metrodinazole (5tablets) to take at once which I did. After my period, I noticed the symptoms were back. So I self treated with balance activ (an over the counter treament for BV) and the symptoms cleared.
About two days after treatment with Balance Activ I began experiencing pain in the left side of my lower abdomen along with stinging in my vagina, I went back to the clinic and was given doxycycline and metrodinazole to treat PID
developed when STD's like chlamydia and gonorrhea was left untreated.
But two days after taking the doxycycline I developed a severe allergic reaction to it with rashes and large welts all over m body (I suspect hives). I had to go back and was prescribed erythromicin for 14 days.
Now my question is
1. Can erythromicin cure PID?
2. I started having frequent urination a day after starting erythromycin - could this be a side effect?
3. Immediately after my period I had unprotected sex with my partner and took Levonelle right after - could I be pregnant?
4. The pain is only on my left side and I have no difficulty urinating - could it be signs of an ectopic pregnancy?
The stinging in my vagina is still there and two days after taking the erythromycin the pain is still there with mild waist pain. What could this be?
Please help as I am soooo worried. I want to have children in the not too distant future and really don't want to jeopardise my chances.
And one more thing I was treated for PID 10 years ago.
I look forward to an expert's answer and other readers that maybe have experience with these things. Thanks
When you took the metrodinazole all at one time, it sounds like they were giving you the dose for trich, not for bv. The dose for bv is 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. I'm not surprised this didn't cure it.
1 - It might, but its not one of the recommended treatments, at least by the CDC in the US. Since you were allergic to the doxy, there are other things you can try. You should also be on the metrodinazole still.
2 - I don't know, but you should google it or ask your doctor.
3 - Its unlikely, but possible. Nothing has a 100% success rate.
4 - Its a possibility you should get checked. Its not likely, but you do want to make sure.
Have you had a pelvic exam, or are they diagnosing you with PID based on symptoms? Untreated BV can cause PID, but PID should be diagnosed with an exam as well as symptoms.
