Persistent Chlamydia/Gonorrhea after 2 weeks of Doxycyline

Hello and good evening everyone,

My question is a pretty straightforward one. I was on Doxycyline for two weeks with the normal dosage of 100mg twice a day. I take the medicine religiously, to the extent that i drop whatever it is i do to drink it at the very minute i need to.

But still discharge persists. I'm on day on day 18 now (4th day off of Doxy cause my doctor advised me to stop, after finishing the second round, to reassess my situation.)

So my question is:

Have i contracted some form of Chlamydia or Gonorrhea that is completely resilient or resistant to treatment? Or is this just a complication of my previous condition?

On a side note, I have noticed that there is more discharge when i get an erection. Also getting erections have become significantly painful. So much so that sometimes the pain manages to wake me when i'm asleep.

I really am getting a bit worried (the understatement of the year!) so i really do hope you guys can help shed some light to my situation.

Thank you very much for your time.

Were you diagnosed based on tests or just symptoms?

Yep. Chlamydia was confirmed by my physician based on tests that were performed.

There is still a fair bit of discharge, and a little bit of the burning sensation when peeing has returned. I think it's coming back.

Is it possible that the chlamydia is resistant to the antibiotic treatment?

Yes that is possible, you might need different medication or a longer/stronger dose.

I'm really hoping it clears up in the days to come cause retesting would mean another anxious couple of days of waiting for results to come in.

Doxycyline is supposed to be the recommended treatment for chlamydia right?

At this point i really dont know what to think.

Different places have different recommendations, you can go to the CDC website and they will say what is recommended.
